This Is my last video in Ramadi, it contains some pics getting the patient ready to fly. The Army Evac team does a great job helping out our ERC nurses and dropping the 9 line Medivac request, hats off to them for there professionalism and great attitude it's been a pleasure working with you guys.
I also have some pictures of the officers and enlisted who completed there FMF qualifications while deployed, outstanding job. There are also some pics in here with our replacement team, hope there time here is as memorable as ours. It was a great deployment, what an opportunity to serve your country and make an impact on the lives of people of another country, Truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Here we are just enjoying another hot day in Ramadi. Bob Smits one of our anesthesia providers had his wife mail him a thermometer so we could really appreciate the heat out here. I think we are all acclimating well to the heat because now 100 deg. doesn't seem to phase us at all. We set the thermometer outside for 5-10 min and it quickly pegged itself out at 140 deg.

I Know its been a while since I last posted any video or pictures but fortunately we have not been that busy, which means not many people have been getting injured. This video is a compilation of our past three weeks here in Ramadi. Quite a few O.R. pictures and alot of faces of people here doing a great job, and some just taking a nap (imagine that). Anyway hope you enjoy the video, and thank you for your continued support.

Above are some pictures of our third MASCAL, we only ended up having 10 patients, and only one ended up having to go to the O.R.. The Army and Navy team worked well together
treating patients and packaging up the patients that needed to be flown out. There are also some pics on this video at the range with the SEALs whose pictures you will not see here for security purposes. They needed medical backup while using the range, and we were just to glad to help out.

Life saving surgery, part of what we do here at Charlie Med. Camp Ramadi

In some of the following video you'll see a life saving thoracotomy performed by the Navy Surgical team at Camp Ramadi. During this case there was very little cool air in the O.R., as you can see Dr. Anderson helping rehydrate some of the people scrubbed in on the case. The patient was then flown out with an En Route Care Nurse to a higher level of care where he could be more closely monitored and recover.

After several days of doing the occasional O.R. case we had our second Mass. Cal.. It was around noon on April 24 a very large boom, and vibration felt throughout the camp. We were just about finished with lunch, we grabbed our trays and headed over to Charlie Med. were by this time people had already started setting up expecting the worst. Within 20-30 min. the casualties started rolling in. By the end of the day we would see 39 patients. Fortunately only one patient flew out on a ventilator two others also flew out, but they were stable and requiring further studies. A job well done by the people of Charlie Med. and the Navy surgical team, and all of the other Docs. and Corpsmen who showed up to lend a hand. Thank you for your prayers and support.

A Busy week at Charlie Med.

Hi everyone,
Just a brief update to the blog. We had a mass cal. this past week so busy taking care of patients was unable to take as many pics as I Usually do. Some Pics from the O.R., others are LCDR Chad Deaton and myself two of the flight nurses here at Ramadi, and some pics off the back of a CH-46 over Baghdad as we were departing the level 3 Combat Support Hospital there. It was a very professionally satisfying week. Thanks for visiting always welcome comments.
